What Is Music Discovery?

Music discovery is one of the most studied problems in modern recommendation systems. The challenge: every commercial algorithm optimizes for not-skipping (because skips hurt engagement metrics), which biases toward songs you'll definitely like — meaning songs you probably already know. True discovery requires accepting some skips in exchange for occasional surprises.

Trending Music's AI DJ blends multiple models and explains every pick so listeners are more willing to give unfamiliar tracks a chance.

The single best thing you can do for your own discovery: skip aggressively, save sparingly, and try one new genre per month. Algorithms follow behavior, not intent.
